This is John Munro’s farewell lecture after having spent one year on a research fellowship in Rostock financed by the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Prof. John Munro received a PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and previously taught at St. Mary’s University in Halifax, Canada. He is the author of The Anticolonial Front: The African American Freedom Struggle and Global Decolonization, 1945-60 (2017), and co-editor of Reading the Postwar Future: Textual Turning Points from 1944 (forthcoming October 2019). In May he will move to the University of Birmingham, England, to work there as Lecturer in US History.
