Mass Spectrometry Program: Analytical Approaches in the Process Industry

Today’s challenges and possibilities for the Process Industry are strongly fluctuating raw material and energy prices, urgent environmental issues, new applications and the request of new products. This require continuous development in the process industry. Implementation of new technologies takes years or even decades, but the process design continues to develop due to factors such as improved unit operations, process intensification and catalysts as well as new design methods (computer simulation and cross-linked components), measurement and control systems. Process analysis plays a major role to develop safe, sustainable, economical production processes. Well-known as well as newly innovative analytical techniques are utilized in various analytical aspects to enable process development. Examples are coal gasification co-product and Fischer-TropschAnalysis.
