Experiencing Indigenous Life Inside and Outside of Academia: A Wasco Storyteller’s Point of View

Brent Florendo is a member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs of Oregon and of “Wasco” decent (Columbia River people). A trained storyteller, he holds a BS in Theater Arts from Southern Oregon University and he currently serves as Director of the Konaway Nika Tillicum-Native American Youth Academy. He is a co-founder of the Native American Studies program at SOU.
In this lecture, Florendo will address the status of experience from an Indigenous perspective in the borderzone between academic life in the university and Native American community life.
