Mit Mitteln des Bundesministeriums für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) und der Europäischen Union (FP7/Marie Curie Actions/COFUND) hat der DAAD 2014 das Förderprogramm „Postdoctoral Researchers International Mobility Experience“ (PRIME) initiiert und unterstützt seitdem die internationale Mobilität in der Postdoktorandenphase durch befristete Stellen an deutschen Hochschulen anstelle traditioneller Stipendien. Die Förderung umfasst eine 12-monatige Auslandsphase und eine sechsmonatige Re-Integrationsphase an einer deutschen Hochschule, an der die Geförderten über den gesamten Förderzeitraum als Postdoktorand:innen angestellt sind.
Die Zielgruppe des Programms sind Postdoktorandinnen und Postdoktoranden (prinzipiell alle Nationalitäten, unabhängig vom aktuellen Aufenthaltsort), die ihre berufliche Laufbahn langfristig in Deutschland sehen.
Im Vergleich zum Vorjahr gibt es folgende Änderungen: Eine Bewerbung ist in der Regel bis zu sechs Jahre nach der Promotion möglich.
Zeitplan für den diesjährigen Bewerbungs-/Auswahlzyklus:
- Bewerbungsfrist: 30. August 2024
- Auswahlergebnis: März 2025
- frühester Förderbeginn: 01. Juni 2025
- spätester Förderbeginn: 01. November 2025
- Bewerbungsfrist ist der 31. August 2024 für Auslandsaufenthalte, die zwischen Juni und November 2025 starten.

With funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the European Union (FP7/Marie Curie Actions/COFUND), the DAAD initiated the "Postdoctoral Researchers International Mobility Experience" (PRIME) funding program in 2014 and has since supported international mobility in the postdoctoral phase through temporary positions at German universities instead of traditional scholarships. The funding comprises a 12-month phase abroad and a six-month integration phase at a German university, where the grantees are employed as postdocs for the entire funding period.
The program's target group is postdoctoral fellows (in principle all nationalities, regardless of their current place of residence) who see their long-term professional career in Germany. Contacts to intended foreign hosts and to the German supervisor have to be established by the applicants themselves. Experience has shown that it makes it easier to coordinate with the supervising professor if the postdoc is already in Hohenheim at the time of application.
The following changes have been made compared to the previous year: As a rule, an application is possible up to six years after the doctorate.
Timetable for this year's application/selection cycle:
- Application deadline: 30 August 2024
- Selection result: March 2025
- Earliest start of funding: 01 June 2025
- Latest funding start date: 01 November 2025
- Application deadline is 31 August 2024 for stays abroad starting between June and November 2025
