Diversity Training
Because of the current physical distancing regulations, the training will be realised via online conference as a webinar. If you have questions, please feel free to ask. If you want to apply for the training, please write an email to karolin.hansen2uni-rostockde
During the one-day training, participants learn about the diversity approach and get an understanding of the emergence and impact of prejudice. As well they will raise awareness of discrimination mechanisms, social inequalities and get support in developing a respectful approach to diversity and the challenges it presents.
First, the core dimensions of diversity are considered: Age, gender, sexual orientation, mental and physical abilities, national origin/ethnicity, social origin, religion and belief. Awareness-raising exercises are used to encourage the participants to sharpen their awareness of discriminatory, tendentious or honour-violating mechanisms. It is also about critically questioning one's own patterns of thought and perception. Through this change of perspective and in mutual exchange, new perspectives can be developed. In addition, legal aspects, such as the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG) and the concept of diversity management, which is increasingly being used both in international corporations and in small and medium-sized enterprises, in universities, schools and city administrations, in associations and non-governmental organisations, are considered.
