Recommendations for barrier-free, digital teaching

In order to support the lecturers during the Covid-19 pandemic, we created recommendations for a barrier-free, digital teaching. Online teaching enables a high degree of accessibility, especially when asynchronous teaching formats are used. However, there are a few things to consider to ensure access for all students. The recommendations for barrier-free teaching can be downloaded from the following link:

Online-course for the creation of accessible teaching materials

In this course, you'll learn how to check documents of the Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF) for accessibility and create your own accessible files. Why should you learn this?

It is true that most students can capture, edit and store all acoustic, written and visual information. But for students with disabilities and/or chronic diseases, there are massive problems in everyday studies, because the information and communication processes in courses are usually not accessible. Visually impaired students have limitations in collecting written or pictorial teaching information and hearing impaired students when collecting acoustic information, to name but two examples

Therefore, the provision of accessible teaching and learning materials for disabled students is a prerequisite for successful learning!

So it's best to get started today! Clicking on the graphic takes you to the Ilias learning platform. Then go to the folder Wissenschaftliche Weiterbildung und Inklusive Hochschule - Have fun and success!

The guide ...

... provides information on various forms of impairment and their effects on studying,

... offers support for a barrier-free design of your courses and materials,

... presents consulting and support services offered by the universities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
